The first game of term 3 saw the U17 boys go to ISKL for their first and possibly last ever 11 aside match (we usually play 7's). The game was looking unlikely with the haze lingering but when the go ahead was given, the boys had to work out how to play what to some is a completely different game. The game was played in quarters and for the first half, the boys looked a little lost as they tried to adapt to the bigger pitch and especially the offside rule. Despite this, Kuhan opened the scoring as he made a great run and rounded the GK. With seconds remaining in the opening quarter, a mix up at the back allowed the ISKL striker to slot home an equaliser. Another defensive error saw ISKL take the lead which they managed to keep up to the half time whistle. Coach, Mr.Ratcliffe made a number of positional changes and with the haze clearing, the boys finally woke up and played some enterprising football. In the 3rd quarter Madhav earned himself a penalty after he was brought down in the area. He stepped up and blasted the ball into the back of the net only for the referee to ask him to re-take due to a dubious offside. The re-take rattled the crossbar and ISKL kept the lead. This meant the boys had 12 minutes to rescue the game and went out on the attack from the off, with GK Aakash basically a spectator in the final 12 minutes especially due to the calmness of the defensive duo, Ijaz and Zafran. WIth 6 minutes left on the clock, Chee Syuen struck from outside of the area into the top of the net, much to the delight of his team mates. The TISKL boys, led by Captain Keenan tried in vain to score the winner but the officials whistle went meaning they had to settle for a draw. A replay may be played as the boys were distraught at not winning a game they had dominated for the majority of the second half.
