Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last week we had a very successful Mental Health Awareness week, which was centred on the slogan of “My voice matters”. These weeks that we have during the school year are excellent ways of promoting our
Care for Self and
Care for Others. Engaging with students with support and ideas for respecting themselves and others really does help with their wellbeing and self awareness.
We encourage students in lessons to voice answers to questions and to express their opinions, and “My voice matters” encourages them to do this from a more personal perspective and to be able to talk to friends and family about their own feelings. My congratulations to our Counselling team and also to the student Peer Mentors for a superb week.
Next week, we have the Early Years and Key Stage 1 sports days in school, and at the start of October the Key Stage 2 sports day. Please see the Primary Journal for more details of these exciting days. Sports days are about collaboration and support for their house and friends, as well as the resilience to try your best for your team. Most of all they are about the children enjoying themselves and having fun. I look forward to seeing lots of parents in school supporting their children.
Also starting quite soon are the Year 11 IGCSE papers. These are the culmination of their secondary schooling so far. Students (and teachers) have been building and preparing for these papers for a long time. The school hall will be almost exclusively in use for the exams from early October until very nearly the end of the school year. I would like to wish our Year 11 students all the best with their preparation for these exams and of course good luck for the actual papers.
And please remember that we have school holidays on Monday and Tuesday next week for Malaysia Day and Prophet Mohammed's birthday. I look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Wednesday.
Stay Safe.
