Dear Parents / Guardians
I would like to wish all our Muslim community “Ramadan Mubarak”.
This is a very important time for reflection. In school we recognise this period by having alternative arrangements for students for PE lessons and of course for lunchtimes. If you are not sure what these arrangements are, please see your section Journal or contact the relevant year leader for more details.
During the last two weeks, we have been very fortunate to have Mr Mark Reardon from Quantum Learning Global in California visit us. We have been working with Quantum Learning (QL) for over ten years now, and this has helped us to change the way that teachers teach in the classroom. If you are not sure about Quantum Learning please watch the videos on our website, or approach the school about how we make learning ‘Joyful, meaningful and Challenging”. The greater impact our teachers are having with students is due to the ethos, and strategies from QL. Our students perhaps do not realise the way they are being taught is quite different to that of their parents. Mark has been busy going into and reviewing lessons, and providing face to face training for the teachers. This has been really well received by our staff.
Thank you to the parents who came to Mark’s session at each campus. His was a very thought provoking presentation about “Raise Them Ready” which ‘piqued the curiosity’ of the audience. Mark's main questions to parents were “ raise them ready…. For what”, and …. “For when”. As you can imagine this provoked some great conversations amongst the parents present.
As you will be aware, we have moved our student management system to a piece of software called “iSams”. Next week, we will be sending a separate email to all families about some details connected to iSams and the Parent Portal. Please check your school family email for more details. On that note, I have also included instructions for you to forward your school family email to a personal email, so that you do not need to monitor two (or more) email addresses.
Stay safe
